Designed for those who no longer wish to camp (or never did!), these tours offer the same great adventure... just with a little more comfort. The accommodation is chosen not only for its close proximity to the highlights, but also for its good value and friendly atmosphere.

The type of accommodation on these tours is as different as the unique lands that you'll visit. For example, in North America we may stay at a wilderness lodge, a boutique hotel or even a working ranch in the Desert Southwest. In Latin America we typically stay at locally owned tourist class hotels or haciendas that are clean, comfortable and sure to make you feel right at home.

  • Waterfall group

...and Fun! Besides the many included activities and guided day hikes, there are often numerous optional activities from which to choose. Snorkelling, rafting, glacier trekking and even a scenic helicopter flight are just a few examples. Optional activities are not included in the tour price, so you're able to select interesting activities according to your own taste and budget. The tour leader will be happy to answer any questions and organise these activities locally on your behalf. And with our longstanding relationships with local outfitters, we will be sure to get you the preferential Grand American Adventures rate.

Accommodation Types - North America The type of accommodation for these tours is as different as the unique lands they explore. For tours in the USA, Alaska and Canada, a combination of tourist class lodges, cabins, hotels and motels suited to the individual areas is used.

For tours in Mexico, we stay at budget or tourist class hotels and cabins that are clean and comfortable, thought not always with the same level of amenities as similar types of accommodation north of the border. However they are sure to make you feel at home.

  • Yacuma Lodge

Accommodation Types - South America For South American tours, the accommodation varies with each region we visit. Lodging tours are fully accommodated on a twin share basis and may range from a comfortable 3 star beachfront hotel to a rustic mountain lodge. On occasion, there may be a multi-shared room but the local surroundings will certainly compensate. Please see individual tour dossiers for more information.

A sleeping bag is not required on our North America and Mexico tours. For South America tours, please see the individual tour dossiers.
