HOTEL BASED TOURS
Our hotel tours are designed for those of you who want a comfortable bed and a roof over your head. Our accommodation is primarily chosen for its close proximity to the highlights, but also for its good value and friendly atmosphere. Our main aim to be ensure you get the best out of the area you are visiting. Wherever you're staying one thing is the same, once you've dropped off your bags you're ready to explore.
Where you'll sleep
On most of our tours you will spend the majority of nights in a combination of hotels, lodges, cabins and motels most suited to the individual areas visited. These will generally be clean and comfortable and of mid-range standard offering twin rooms and en-suite bathroom plus other basic amenities.
However sometimes where'll you'll stay will offer you a different unique spot to rest your head for the night. You might find yourself staying in a wilderness lodge, in a simple Navajo Hogan or even a working ranch in the Desert Southwest. On some of our tours we also offer the chance to stay in historic and characterful cabins or lodges that lie within the National Parks themselves.
Wherever you're staying, one thing is the same once you've dropped off your bags you're ready to explore.
If you're looking for a little extra comfort then our Premium Accommodation departures could be the thing for you. These tours offer a higher standard of accommodation, generally around a 4 star level.
You can find Premium departures on some of our most popular trips, which include:
> Deep South and Delta Blues
> Historic Route 66
> Canadian Rockies
No Single Supplements and Optional Solo Sleepers
All your accommodation is included in the price of the tour, and if you are travelling as a single traveller then you will share a room with another group member of the same gender. There are no compulsory single supplements. However, if you would prefer your own room then we do offer an Optional Solo Sleeper, where you can pay a little extra to have your own room.
Meals and local cuisine
On hotel tours, you'll eat in café's, diners and restaurants along the way. This is a great way to way to sample and enjoy some of the local specialities - Creole food, all-American burgers, fresh lobster or spicy hot Mexican! Your Tour Leader may suggest an optional breakfast or lunch kitty to keep costs down, which has proven to be a popular alternative to eating out three meals a day.
