As we know how important it is to match children of similar ages, our 15 July & 05 August departures are specifically for families with teenagers. Younger siblings are welcome upon request.
Our 12 August trip is a special young photographers departure where we will be joined by an experienced local photographer in Havana and Trinidad to learn how to capture the colours and people of these
vibrant, atmospheric cities. You'll enjoy active hands-on sessions with your camera, winding through the little streets, past grand colonial buildings and lively street musicians.

Trip Itinerary
Our routes have been carefully chosen to include the best night stops and highlights. However, as local and operational conditions may vary and unforeseen circumstances can arise, the following itinerary should be used as a guideline.
As day one is an arrivals day you are free to arrive at any time. You will have a welcome meeting at approximately 18:00 this evening where you meet your Tour Leader, fellow travellers and get excited about your up and coming trip. Day 1: Havana
Today is a joining day and you may arrive at any time to the hotel. After checking in the remainder of the day is at your leisure to get excited about your family adventure ahead.

Day 2: Havana
Today you head out and discover Havana new and old. Cuba is a country rich in history and on the verge of change as they approach the end of the Castro era. You explore the colourful treasures of old Havana on a guided orientation tour and learn about Cuba's historic past and how it shaped the country you see today. Hear tales about Che Guevara, Fidel Castro and Ernest Hemmingway and the roles they played, some small and others on a grand scale. You will see the old city inside the original fortified walls - La Habana Vieja - houses the finest collection of antique colonial buildings in the Americas. The Plaza de Armas is dominated by the former residence of the Spanish governors, now the City Museum, whose artifacts reflect the extravagant lifestyle. You see the 18th century baroque cathedral and mansions which line the cobbled Plaza de la Catedral and Calle del Obispo (main shopping district). There are many optional excursions to fill your time in Havana however, a great way to get a feel of the city is to simply roam the streets or kick back in one of the many cafes and absorb a country on the on the cusp of change.

Day 3: Vinales
After breakfast you head towards the lush tropical paradise and UNESCO World Heritage area of the Vinales Valley, famed for its tobacco plantations. Along the way you pass tall palm trees, cane fields and farmers tending to their crops. You stop at Las Terrazas situated near the Sierra del Rosario Mountains where you learn about farming and the coffee plantation process. Stopping at the nearby San Juan River we have a chance to swim in the sulphur springs and natural pools. Before arriving in Vinales we have one more stop at a cigar factory; one of Cuba's biggest exports. Boasting dramatic rolling karsts rising from the ground and lush tobacco plantations Vinales is a laid back, relaxed and beautiful green area.

Day 4: Vinales
Today you take a guided tour through lush unspoilt countryside; it almost feels like the town that time forgot. We have the possibility to stop at a local farmer's house for a taste of traditional rural country life. Venturing further afield you next visit the stunning limestone cave Cueva del Indio, with stalactites and stalagmites growing from the ground and ceiling. We leave the cave by boat before returning to Vinales.

Day 5: Bay of Pigs; Playa Larga
Retracing your steps towards Havana and south to the Matanzas province you hit the Zapata Peninsula, the perfect location in Cuba to see the Bee Hummingbird - the world's smallest bird in its natural habitat. From here we travel to Cienfuegos stopping en route to the infamous Bay of Pigs Cross, now a nature reserve whose swamplands are perfect conditions for Cuba's small crocodile, but ultimately made famous by the failed invasion of Cuba at the Bay of Pigs in 1961. We visit a crocodile breeding farm for the Cuban endangered crocodile before our overnight on a beautiful Caribbean beach.

Day 6: Cienfuegos
This morning you venture to the Caleta Buena for swimming and snorkeling opportunities in the natural pools. These are home to many species of tropical and coral fish. You enjoy a buffet lunch before making your way to Cienfuegos where you enjoy a walking tour after checking into the hotel.

Day 7: Trinidad
You enjoy a morning drive to Trinidad, the best preserved town in Cuba situated in the Sancti Spiritus province and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Paved with narrow cobble-stoned streets this city is virtually car free and adds to the relaxed atmosphere making for a leisurely sightseeing visit. This morning you venture out on foot to the old area of town around the Plaza Mayor. You'll also visit one of the museums reflecting how the rich families lived at the time. In the evening there is often music or performances happening which add a different dynamic to your experience.

Day 8: Cayo Blanco Boat Trip
Today you enjoy a full day boat trip to Cayo Blanco by boat, a small stretch of land in the middle of the sea with a stunning white sandy beach. This is the perfect opportunity to snorkel over multi-coloured coral reefs gazing at a multitude of beautifully decorated fish species. If snorkelling isn't your thing you can laze on the golden sands or spend your day swimming in the crystal clear waters.

Day 9: Santa Clara
Nearby to Trinidad is a former plantation owner's property, El Cubano Hacienda. You enjoy a local travel experience by travelling on the back of a truck through lush green scenery. Upon arrival there are loads of nature tracks to explore surrounded by Cuba's rural vegetation and isolated wilds. Some of these tracks lead to natural clear watering holes where you to swim and cool down or for those seeking more adventure why not try horse riding? In the afternoon we take a short drive to the colonial town of Sancto Spiritus, here you can shop in the local market or ration store and see how Cuban's go about there everyday shopping. Leaving here you drive to Santa Clara.

Day 10: Varadero
Santa Clara was made famous as the last site of the battle for revolution where Che Guevara triumphantly attacked an armoured train therefore forcing the Batists to flee Cuba. Here you will visit Che's Mausoleum and the actual train left behind as evidence of the battle. Departing Santa Clara you drive to the "all inclusive" Caribbean paradise of Varadero which draws in tourists from all over the world in search of a relaxing beach stay. Take time to swim, relax or shop as you near the end of your trip.

Day 11: Havana
This morning is free to relax on the beach before heading back to Havana where your tour ends upon arrival.
