Day 1-2: San Jose
Make your way to the hotel to relax and unwind before meeting the group early on day two. Enjoy a guided tour of the city sights, visiting a local coffee plantation and butterfly farm for a fascinating introduction to the natural history of Costa Rica.

Day 3-4: Tortuguero National Park
Travel by boat to our riverbank lodge deep in the rainforest. Tortuguero is home to toucans and kingfishers, numerous endangered mammals, and the nesting ground of the green turtle (Aug to Oct). Go on excursions by boat and on foot, with the experienced eyes of your guide to help spot the wildlife.
Accommodation: 2 nights in jungle lodge with meals included
(If you join this tour between August and October and are interested in the nesting ground of the green turtle, it is necessary to wear dark colours.)
Day 5-6: Sarapiqui
Known throughout the scientific community as one of Costa Rica's richest and most bio-diverse regions, Sarapiqui is also popular with travellers seeking the thrills of white-water rafting, horseback riding or a lazy boat trip down the Pacuare River to observe the flora and fauna.

Day 7-8: Arenal Volcano National Park
Arenal's conical shape and pyrotechnic displays greet visitors at Central America's most active volcano. Explore the national park's lava fields and forest habitat by hiking its many trails, or hop on a horse to take in more of the surrounding countryside, before a relaxing dip in thermal hot springs.

Day 9-10: Monteverde National Park
Home to over 100 mammals, 400 birds and 1200 amphibians and reptiles, this cloud forest reserve is one of the most bio-diverse places on the planet! Explore the park by way of hanging bridges suspended from the trees to get in amongst the foliage and experience the forest from a different point of view!

Day 11-13: Manuel Antonio National Park
Its magical beaches and abundant forests make a stunning finale to your trip. During two full days you'll enjoy a guided walk along the park trails and have time to relax on one of the idyllic palm-lined bays, with the ocean crashing in on the beach and white-faced capuchin monkeys peering out from the trees.

Day 14-15: San Jose
Returning north, we'll visit Carara Biological Reserve en route to San Jose for one more night to reflect on the beauty and diversity of this magical land before checking out of the hotel for the end of the tour, and saying goodbye to your new friends.
