Trip Departure Time

As this tour departs at 0730 we recommend that you book pre-tour accommodation. Please request hotel details at the time of booking.

Day 1: Seattle to Olympic National Park

After departing Seattle we board our scenic ferry and travel directly to the heart of Olympic National Park where you'll hike amongst the peaks of the Olympic Range for a bird's eye view of the stunning landscape. Journey deep into old growth forest to visit flowing waterfalls and pristine lakes before relaxing in the Sol Duc Hot Springs. Bustling Seattle feels like a distant memory as you are submerged within the natural beauty of Olympic National Park.

Day 2: Olympic National Park

Take a stroll along the Hoh River Trail through one of the great temperate Rainforests or test your hiking legs up to Five Mile Island which reveals the old-growth grandeur of this valley. Formed by river channels, the island is an awesome grassy valley bank dotted with maple glades. Enjoy the unending views up the valley all the way to Bogachiel Peak. Your trail is accompanied by the birdsong of wrens, nuthatches, woodpeckers, chickadees, and thrushes which can be heard over the distant hum of the river as you pass moss-cloaked maples.

Day 3: Olympic National Park

We head out to Rialto Beach on the extreme northwest of the Olympic Peninsula. This wild and rugged coastline is awash with drift wood, coloured starfish and a wonderful beach trails offering remarkable scenery. Take in the dramatic views of the offshore islands known as `seastacks' and visit Hole in the Wall Rock, said to be a highlight for many travellers in this area.

Day 4: Mount Rainier National Park

Travelling along the Hood Canal - a stunning drive through mountains on one side and lakes on the other - you make your way to the tallest of the Cascade Peaks, Mount Rainier. The park offers over 300 miles of trails, with everything from gentle walks through forests to heart pounding climbs up to the mountain glaciers. Upon arrival, a particular favourite is the walk amongst towering old forest growth on the Grove of the Patriarchs trail. This famous trail winds amongst enormous trees and is well-known for its photo opportunities at every turn.

Day 5: Mount Rainier National Park

The Skyline Trail loop is an ideal hike which incorporates the best scenic beauty the Paradise region has to offer. Loop around the broad Edith Creek basin, leading through alpine flower fields, past thundering waterfalls and over high peaks. You'll also find a memorial marking an important event in park history!

Day 6: Mount St Helens

Mount St Helens is famous for the eruption in 1980 which gave its perfect conical shape. Following on from the eruption there has been a resurgence of plantlife, and wildlife such as deer and elk are making a slow but sure comeback. Climb the Harry's Ridge Trail with views of mid-summer wildflowers, the mouth of the crater, Loowit Falls and an emerging glacier. Another great option is the Hummocks Trail, which gives you the opportunity to see the devastating effects of the eruption and to marvel at the vitality of nature's return.

Day 7: Mount St Helens to Seattle

Take the chance on your last free morning to explore the area in more depth. We'll then return to Seattle where you can enjoy a visit to the famous Pike Place Market. If you can, be sure to spend longer in this cosmopolitan city to ascend the Space Needle for amazing 360 degree vistas.

Solo Sleepers   Optional Solo Sleeper

There are no forced supplements for single travellers. Accommodation is based on twin-share, so if you're travelling on your own, you'll share with a fellow passenger of the same sex. However, if you would prefer your own space our Solo Sleeper Option can be requested from per person. This will guarantee you your own room for every night of the tour. The number of single rooms we can offer is limited, so it's best to book early. Simply select the "Solo Sleepers" check box on the booking form or request over the phone.

Hotels Before and After your trip

Tours begin and end at designated hotels in the departure and arrival cities, starting at 7.30am (check your tour voucher for exact details) and finishing at around 5pm, so it's a great idea to book a room for the night before and after your tour.
