LIFE ON THE ROAD
On every one of our holidays your tour leader will organise all the activities, transportation, accommodation and meals for the group, so that you can take it easy and enjoy the experience.
We have designed our tours to maximise the time spent in each destination so that you can take in all the highlights, with plenty of free time to relax or venture even further off the beaten path. Whilst there may be some early morning starts, waking up to freshly brewed coffee and experiencing a sunrise over the Grand Canyon is simply not to be missed.
Get Involved An essential part of a Grand American Adventures camping holiday is helping out around the campground. With guidance from your tour leader, everyone sets up and packs down the camp together. Whilst our leaders shop for fresh food and advise in prepare the meals, we ask that you lend a hand in the 'kitchen' or at the BBQ. Our international groups regularly create and enjoy delicious meals together. Our hotel based tours eat in local restaurants, chosen for their good value, atmosphere and of course, food.
Meals On Camping Tours Breakfasts may include fresh fruits and cereal, toast, juice, milk, coffee and tea. Fried bacon or sausage, pancakes or eggs will also be available on more leisurely mornings. Lunches are typically picnic style, and our evening menu can range from grilled meat, fresh fish or chicken dishes, as well as occasional regional specialties such as Mexican food or BBQ's. Vegetarian options will be available. If you need to remain on a special diet during your trip, feel free to bring any particular foods, beverages or whatever you need. Be sure to let us know at the time of booking and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Our Vehicles All of our private vehicles are designed to ensure your safety, comfort and enjoyment of the tour. In North America, our new 15-seater vehicles feature air-conditioning, raised ceilings for more headroom, captain seats for added comfort, back row "bench" seats and an open centre aisle floor plan, making it easier when getting in and out at those many photo opportunities. In Central and South America we use vehicles that are comfortably suited to the local environment. On occasion, we also travel by boat, airplane or train. For additional information, please see the individual tour dossiers on your desired tour page.
Our Tour Leaders Grand American Adventures maintains the most comprehensive recruitment and training programme of its kind. Our tour leaders' personalities, knowledge and professionalism make every Grand American Adventures tour a special experience. We are very selective and employ only the most capable men and women from many professional backgrounds. With a passion to explore and share in the experience, you're sure to enjoy a wealth of information and insight from their local knowledge and expertise.
Tour Leader Quotes "I was asked recently, what makes a good tour leader? To me the answer is the same thing as what makes a good passenger - attitude. Come ready for adventure with a positive attitude and we'll have the time of our lives!" - Charles Knowlton
"While leading tours is the most demanding job I have ever undertaken, it is without a doubt the most rewarding! I have shared some of the best moments of my life with my passengers, many of whom I now consider close friends." - Tyler Keys
