Local Specialists

Our Tour Leaders will get you from A to B, organise activities and no doubt show you secret spots along the way. Ultimately they are there to make sure you get the most out of your adventure.

Our Tour Leaders are chosen for their professionalism, unbridled passion to explore and a desire to share in the experience. They have hiked hundreds of miles of national park trails, slept under the stars and done almost every activity there is, and are keen to introduce you to the places that they call home.

If you are interested in becoming a tour leader for Grand American Adventures please see our Employment page for further information.

"My name is Vicki, and I am from Minnesota. I grew up in a family that loved the outdoors, and spent my summers camping, fishing, biking, and hiking around the Midwest. I studied history at the University of Minnesota, and spent two semesters studying abroad in France and New Zealand. After graduation I spent a year travelling the world. When I returned to the USA I spent two seasons working with conservation and biology in Nevada. After that I started as a trek leader, and haven't looked back. I'm currently in my fourth year leading tours. My favourite destinations on our tours are Moab, UT and Telluride, CO."

"I grew up outside of Nashville, TN, area known for it's country music and whiskey, the latter of which I much prefer.  After living in Chicago through my University years, I started guiding for Grand American Adventures.  It's really the only job I know, and I wouldn't have it any other way.  It's exposed me to some of the most beautiful places on this continent, the pinnacle of which for me is Alaska.  I am also an International Sales Rep during the winter, so maybe you'll see me bouncing around your village, yelling at people to do our tours."

"I was raised in the great state of Wisconsin until I ventured west for the mountains of Colorado after turning down a purchasing position for a large dairy producing corporation.  After my first backpacking trip around Europe and Northern Africa, I fell in love with travel.  It didn’t take long for me to find Grand American Adventures where I have been leading tours for five years now.  My favorite area of the US is the northwest because of the large mammals that roam the beautiful mountains while lacking large human populations.  In my off-seasons I usually explore various parts of the world for long periods of time with a special interest in Southern Asia. That being said, I believe North America has the most diverse natural beauty of anywhere I have been in the World and I love calling it my office and my home!"

"I've been leading tours for Grand American Adventures for over three years now, after growing up all around Western America in places such as Utah, Idaho, California, and Alaska. I graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in History and promptly moved to Hawaii where I began leading adventure snorkeling and diving tours. I spend as much time as possible in the Southwest and the Rocky Mountains; climbing, hiking, motorcycling, and canyoneering. When I'm not leading tours I'm often traveling abroad in Southeast Asia, Nepal, India, and Western Europe."

"Growing up in the diverse state of New Jersey, I always wanted to move out west. At 18 I moved to Colorado to study Biology but mostly for the great snowboarding. After graduation, I spent a year travelling through Central and South America. When I returned I quickly started working for Grand American Adventures to keep exploring and to show off all of the spectacular sites North America has to offer!"
