Memphis Tours

Memphis ToursA place forever ingrained in the hearts and minds of all country, blues and soul music followers.

Memphis is just one of those places that has become synonymous with the likes of Elvis, Johnny Cash and B.B. King.

Anyone wishing to pay tribute should look no further than the Walk of Fame that can be found on Beale Street.

To compliment its musical roots, Memphis is also well-known for its café and open kitchen culture with an array of authentic venues offering up a welcoming slice of Deep South charm from morning through to night.

From the banks of the Mississippi to the Chucalissa Indian Village, there's more to Memphis than meets the eye - although it would be rude not to at least pay a passing visit to the legendary home of the King.

Memphis Insider Tips

Cotton Museum
Located in the building that provided the one time trading floor for cotton exchange in Memphis, the Cotton Museum manages to share the imagery, economics and the stories of an industry that is rooted in the Deep South just as vehemently as jazz music and Chicken Creole. This is an ideal place to visit for anyone looking to delve a little deeper into the history, people and the songs of the South as well as providing the chance to tread on the hallowed boards that once allowed the most important movers and shakers in America to do business.
When to go
From street festivities on Beale Street to a firework-accompanied orchestral finale, Memphis in May is all about the music and a great time to visit Memphis. Weather-wise, things will already be hotting up in May but expect to find a few spring showers. If you're visiting in July and August then be prepared for unforgiving Deep South sunshine. Best advice to avoid the heat and humidity is to visit towards mid to late September where you'll still find plenty of things to do in Memphis as well as an easier climate and fewer crowds.

Memphis Tour Highlights

Beale Street
Firmly entwined in the tangled tapestry of the blues, Beale Street is one of those downtown districts that you absolutely must visit during your tours of Memphis. Live music venues, authentic honky-tonk bars and no end of cafés and restaurants make Beale Street a great place to hang-out.
Graceland
Visiting the final resting place of the King is like entering a surreal theme park and from the list of permanent food items that can be found in the kitchen to the fabulous front gate which has come to symbolise the man and his music, no visit to Memphis is complete without paying your respects.
Sun Studio & Gibson Factory
Sun Studio is a recognised National Historic Landmark. A tour of the offices that once welcomed a young Elvis Presley will no doubt resonate with music fans. Afterwards, heading over to the Gibson Guitar Factory will no doubt complete a memorable day's worth of touring in Memphis.
