From snow-capped peaks to sub-alpine terrain littered with spruce forest, the Yukon offers some of Canada’s most impressive wilderness scenery. Rugged paths snake beside towering mountains, past flowing rivers and babbling creeks, with no sign of civilization for miles around. Camp out in the heart of the Yukon’s unspoilt terrain for unobstructed stargazing up at the Yukon sky.

The Yukon is home to some of Canada’s most impressive national wonders, including Mount Logan, Canada’s highest peak and the second highest in Northern America. The Kaskawulsh Glacier is an unmissable sight – the world’s largest non-polar ice field. Make your way across vast ice steppes, in the breath-taking solitude of this glacial area.

The legendary Yukon River snakes its way through the territory, and one incredible way to see the Yukon landscape is from the water – experience the wilderness from the viewpoint of your canoe! Water activities are abundant in the Yukon, and a white water rafting experience at Tatshenshini-Alsek Wilderness Park will get your adrenaline pumping. If you’re more about spending time on dry land, exploring on foot is an equally wonderful experience. The Midnight Dome hike beside Dawson City offers an enchanting vista over the urban settlement and rural areas that surround it.

The extreme wilderness of the Yukon is a wildlife-lover’s paradise. Grizzly Bears frequent roadside clearings and the trails of Kluane and Tombstone; and packs of wild wolves and coyote roam the plains in the shadows of towering mountains and rolling hills. The iconic moose is a common sighting, along with a long list of birds – including willow ptarmigan, northern wheatears and golden eagles.
